Best decision I've made in a long time

I bought a 2011 Chevy Silverado and only got a truck key so instead of paying $30-$50 or even the ridiculous price the dealer said wanted to charge for a new key I bought 2 of these blank keys and the local key shop cut these keys with my original key that I already had. After the keys for my key were cut I looked online and figured out how to program them for my truck and it only took about 3 minutes and was very easy to do myself. The keys work great and look and function identical to my OEM key in every way. It's a no-brainer, take this key like I did and have your local key shop split it up and save yourself a ton of money. I programmed my key to take my original key and put it in my truck's ignition, turn the key to the on position for about 10 seconds (until all the lights on the dash go out), then turn the key off and remove it. Within 30 seconds, grab the new key, insert it into the ignition and turn it on for about 10-15 seconds, then turn the key off and remove it, BAM! the new key is programmed, just like that! Now you can insert the new key and start the car. Remember that after the programming process you have to take the new key out and put it back in the ignition switch to start the car.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Very expensive
