Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Bike-Eye Narrow Frame Mount Mirror for Enhanced Visibility by Edwin White

Great mirror, best for cycling

I was looking for an alternative style mirror to the handlebar/helmet style and came across this piece of art. I drive over 100 miles a week in fixed gear on narrow dual carriageway back roads to and from work and am often passed by rednecks at 45-55 mph. Before I got this mirror, I often had to turn around and look over my shoulder to check for cars. I received the mirror two days earlier in a small package in my mailbox last night. I was surprised by the quality of the mirror. The mount was smaller than I expected (which is good) but the size of the mirror was more than adequate (I got the narrow version). I have three black cable ties with me. I installed it on my down tube next to the mirror headphone on the left for right lane riding. The mirror was already in the right position for this. Installation took about 1 minute, I had no problems, and with the squares of zip ties tucked near the mirror it looks very neat and clean. I was surprised how good it actually looks on my bike, I have a rigid gear so aesthetics are very important. It doesn't look silly at all, and where it is, someone might not even notice unless you're looking for it. It took me about 3 minutes down the road to set it up properly. This morning I drove 10 miles to work around 9am and had to look back maybe 4 times to double check. Yes, you can see your left foot on the left edge of the mirror when you step down, but it's clear when you step in the middle and up. To be honest, if you're moving at a decent pace, it's not even that much of a problem. I could see cars approaching me from behind about 1/4 mile. The image is sharp and even on a rougher road the image remains usable, sharp and mostly stable. The only downside I found with this mirror is that your head needs to be in roughly the same position that you put it in. So you only need to move a little when using multi-position bars. With risers or straight bars and megaphones I don't see that as a big problem. Another thing is that due to the fact that it is attached to the frame, it is more difficult to see approaching cars on bends. Again, it's not a big deal as you still have to check vehicles before entering a turn. Overall, I can honestly say that I feel safer driving with this product, which is amazing given the situation I'm in all the time driving around town. I think it would be useful in both urban and rural areas. The mirror looks crisp, feels well made, is incredibly light, doesn't get in the way and I plan on using it for a long time. I give him 5 stars. Costs money.
