I recently started stretching and doing it for the first time. My ears were probably 18 gauge so I had to buy a pair of 16 gauge rings so I had big enough holes to start at 14. I had no trouble installing 14s, I waited a while before trying 12s and again I had no trouble installing them. I agree with some of the other reviews to clean them up, maybe I should have done that before I started stretching but I was too excited. to start the process but will clean up the rest before I rate. I'm also willing to inspect your cones to make sure there are no nicks in the metal, I've been lucky and haven't had any issues. So far I'm happy with this kit and just got a 12 so can't help with the larger sizes yet.
