I love panpastel

Use them to draw shapes. Beautiful design of labels - ideal for creating subtle shadows. It's easy to get a lot of pigment on the sponge, but even when there's a little bit of it (i.e. it's used up and the heavy pigment is gone) you can still create really transparent shadows. Very good.
