Review on πŸ“± Garmin Remote Edge by Michael Jennings

Cozy. - GPS, Finder and Accessories

This little device basically does four things: Starts/stops a ride, scrolls through screens, marks circles and shines or navigates to a map (one or the other), not both). If being able to do any or all of these things without taking your hands off the wheel is important to you, then this could be for you. I have an Edge 130 and mostly use the remote to scroll through the three to four screens I use. I use auto stop/start on my Edge so I only have to press a button at the beginning or end of a ride. Sometimes I use the remote control for this, but it's not that important. I don't drive at night, so I never use the reverse lights. I don't mark circles and don't usually use maps. However, the convenience of being able to scroll through screens without taking your hands off the wheel made it worth the purchase for me. It's also handy that you can go straight to the map if you need to. If someone enjoys drawing circles, I see this as a really useful item. This is convenient and non-distracting, much like the round counters used to mark pool rounds. This makes it easier to mark a lap without distracting from the ride itself; just a little hand movement. You may not even need to look at it once you get used to its location. The remote connects quickly to my Edge and has at least worked well so far. Not sure how long the battery will last. I haven't had it long enough to actually check it out. Not a "can't live without" device, but a nice extra feature.
