Review on VoltDB by Luca Washington

The documentation was really good. It helped me get up to speed quickly. I love that the system handles memory differently than Oracle. This allowed me to use more of my hardware. And it had performance comparable or better than Oracle's products. The system is very easy to set up and run with. VoltDB supports all of our SQL needs. There are not any downsides that we have encountered so far. VoltDB has been easy to integrate into our existing systems. We've been able to do some pretty cool things without having to rewrite our applications. I like that you can use it as both OLTP (On Line Transaction Processing) storage system or analytic engine with SQL query language support so there are no boundaries between them. You need to be careful about your hardware configuration when using this product since performance will vary greatly depending upon how much memory/CPU power you have available at any given time. If we had more resources then our application would perform better which translates into happier customers!
