If you're a programmer who's used to using the g700, you'll know that its many buttons can hold complicated composite shortcuts and their packages with the help of the device's native software and your very own customized IDE. The fact that the mx3 software, which is supposed to be the best and is designed for programmers, failed miserably in this regard and forced me to resort to AutoHotkey left me completely befuddled. Very little anguish is expressed here over the scroll wheel, if any at all. You'll have to adjust to its behavior, which is different from that of the mechanical inertial compass on the same G700, and it will grant you passes if you ask nicely... but not too often... oh, the horror... Nonetheless, it may be customized once your creativity is exhausted, and the fact that it automatically toggles between modes is always a plus. It's impressive that logicians can whiz through 500 lines of code with a single finger swipe, but they've apparently been doing this for quite some time. The rat is decent and functional, although it has some kinks.
