For some reason I expected to pay more for an electric opener. Well, first of all, I would NEVER get that for myself. However, as hard as I tried to show my wife how to use a bar/waiter style opener, she just struggled to get it working. I decided to surprise her with an electric bottle opener. When I saw how much they cost I was surprised. I thought they would cost more. Now that I was a "not shocked" sticker, I was looking for the highest rating. Well, that's when I discovered that perhaps there doesn't exist a quality, highly rated electric wine corkscrew. After reading many reviews of various openers, I tried this device and now only time will tell. I can report and claim that it handles synthetic corks (at least from Apothic Red) with no problems. The process is so easy I can teach a chinchilla how to open wine with this thing. Step one: Put the opener on the bottle. Step Two: Press the button down and hold it fully. Step Three: Remove the opener from the bottle. Step Four: Push the button up until the cork pops out. Ready. My wife loves it. And now she no longer asked me for help removing the chewed cork after her failed attempt to use the rod.
