Review on EWK 64 5Mm Removal Corolla Cylinder by Jesse Hughes

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Well it worked best in Tools and Equipment

So I bought this tool for use with a 2011 Toyota Corolla 1.8 engine. This tool sits very tightly on the plastic cap that holds the oil filter. I had to use a ballpoint hammer to tap the tool to get the tool to fully grip the plastic cap. If you look at the tool you will notice that there are three notches on each side of the tool. Now, before you do this, make sure the teeth on the black plastic oil cap line up with the slots on one side of the tool. I noticed that the black plastic cover has three (3) teeth on one side while the other side of the black cover only has one (1) tooth. What made my job difficult was that I could only see one tooth and couldn't see the other three teeth because they were out of my field of vision. So I didn't know how to build this tool. For one tooth I lined up that particular tooth in the center notch of the tool, remember there are three notches on each side of this tool so it doesn't matter which side you choose, luckily the three prongs are on the black oil cap aligned. right in the grooves of the tool. Again I couldn't see it because the three teeth on the black cap were out of my field of vision. So as long as you line up the single tooth on the black oil cap with the center notch on the tool, the three teeth on the black cap will automatically fit into the slots on the tool and of course vice versa. Remember to use a 26mm socket with this tool. While you can place a 3/8 ratchet in the center of this tool, I've heard it's not a good idea. In my experience the black plastic oil cap was very tight and using the 26mm socket actually helped me a lot as I had to tap the ratchet with a rubber mallet. Just keep tapping the ratchet with a hammer and the black cap will pop open. I had to use needle nose pliers with a 90° tip so I could use the claw while tapping the tool with a ball head mallet to loosen the tool from the black oil cap. The tool was very tight and I couldn't get the tool off the oil cap with my fingers. As the name suggests, this tool works, but be prepared to have a bit of work when it comes to getting the tool in and out of the oil cap as the tool is too small. Hope this review helps.
