My husband didn't believe that no brand of random smoke alarms would work. Of course, I always wanted to prove him wrong, so I got him involved and tried to prove him wrong. I burned some paper and cardboard and held the fire alarm about 1 foot above the smoke/fire. Smoke was visible, and as I said, it was a foot higher than the smoke/fire. No look. Determined to prove my husband wrong, I burned some more paper and made lots of smoke and nada. Carbon monoxide levels continued to rise well above what should have been triggered, and again no noise. So not only was my husband right, thank you for that, but I also proved that this product doesn't work. returned the alert and bought the First Alert brand instead. The same test produced a super loud alarm.
