Review on 🎧 Sony WF-1000XM3 Noise Canceling True Wireless Earbuds with Alexa Voice Control and Mic for Phone Calls, Black - Leading Industry Headset/Headphones by Heather Davis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The sound quality is among the best. The noise cancellation is fantastic. PC pairing is a nightmare

I want to like them. I want to hate her. I've been using them for the past 10 hours, constantly alternating between using them with my phone and trying to get them to work properly on my laptop in conjunction with an Intel AC9560 (BT 5.0) wireless card. The main plus of these headphones is the sound quality with proper use. Listening on my iPhone xs max offered a quality experience that I was missing when I was only using my Apple AirPods. The noise isolation and surround sound features are generally well done, although some delay between enabling and disabling them makes it less and less desirable to toggle them on and off. My biggest problem was using it with a non-mobile device. Windows doesn't let you mute your microphone. The microphone stays hot all the time while connected to the laptop, causing the audio quality to drop to 92kbps (tape quality). Not to mention the ambient noise that comes from a hot microphone. I've gone through every possible fix and even disabled the headset and microphone services. None of this works, it's just not compatible with Windows PCs. Mac users can rest assured that you can mute the mic yourself and restore sound quality, but it seems that on a Mac once you do this you are very limited by the volume they output. Something to know that hasn't been covered in any of the reviews. The connection with the iPhone was flawless and easy. It paired instantly and disconnects when entering and exiting the large charging case. Video lag is still an issue for iPhones. This is more noticeable when you are streaming a service. When watching downloaded movies/music videos on the native player for iOS it seems that it is at least compensated and has less lag now - so no noticeable lag). All in all, I'll do more testing to see how I can work around this microphone issue on Windows. However, if the problem turns out to be due to a driver conflict with the Bluetooth chipset used by the headphones, then they will have to go back.
