I purchased this camera as part of an aurora detection system I am building. I wanted a 4K camera with really good low light color sensitivity so it could capture the green of the aurora in the night sky and look like a really good candidate. The camera was easy to set up and immediately produced real-time 4K video during the day. What can I stream with VLC? However, I need to be able to control exposure - the glow can be dim when first turned on - and that was my first stumbling block. Everything I tried to get and set in terms of impact was throwing an "unauthorized user" error! How can that be when the same user can stream video from that camera until the cows return home? It took a quick chat with Annke tech support to point me to the right place to set up the ONVIF user and once that was done I now have the ability to set up many options via python-onvif-zeep. I'm not quite where I want to be with the Aurora camera yet - my experiments with night vision are inconclusive (clouds and now the full moon don't help either ;-) but so far so good, time will tell. So for the price, it's hard to pass up a 4K camera with great low-light capabilities for what you can get with the Revain, especially if you're the crazy dude who wants the camera via software rather than one want to control simple mouse with mouse click .
