Review on Enhance Your Audio Experience with the ASUS Strix SOAR Sound Card by Mateusz Szlassa ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm happy with it, the price and the quality, I recommend to buy it.

Before this card, I sat on the Xonar DG, which completely suited me. After selling the old platform and buying a new one, which, of course, does not have a PCI slot, the question arose about buying a new card, because even the modern Realtek is complete slag (if you listen on normal headphones). I wanted to take the Xonar DGX, but on ebay I saw this miracle for 3300, read the reviews, and decided to take it. What can I say after a week of use: The sound is noticeably better than the DG / DGX. Much wider dynamic range. The scene was detailed. I started to hear flaws in mp3 compositions, such as distortion, crooked mixing, porridge and cut frequencies in the upper ranges, I heard the difference between flac and mp3. The amplifier is really powerful, in low impedance mode on my 48ohm headphones (JVC HA-RX700) after 60% volume it becomes unbearably loud to listen to. I noticed that it heats up quite a bit when listening at medium volume. In games, steps and shots are heard very well, even too much, which is unusual, it divides the channels very well, which even disorientates a little at first. Regarding the software: the program is quite convenient, but it takes a very long time to open from the tray, with ssd 10-15 seconds for the first time. With regards to pickups: before that there was an ATX mother and the sound was far from the VC and there were no pickups. Now I have mATX and the only free connector above the VC, which leads to the fact that there is not even a centimeter between the sound card and the video card, and since the video card does not have a backplate, interference is ensured when the graphics controller is loaded. I ordered a riser to take it down the hull, away from the VC, I'm 90% sure that the problem will be solved.

Pros
  • Sound quality, good hardware stuffing, good headphone amplifier.
Cons
  • Tips from the video card, brake software.
