As a professional scientist and avid hobbyist, I have used and owned many student, mid-range, and high-end laboratory microscopes. When it comes to optical technology, I've found that quality "glass" REALLY pays more. The CB2000C is more expensive than the best-selling Omax and AmScope products, but for over $100 you're getting a RELIABLE piece of lab glassware. There is VERY little plastic in this scope, so it's quite heavy, providing a stable sight and durability. All moving parts are well machined to high tolerances to ensure the image doesn't slip around like cheaper rigs do. 10x and 20x magnification eyepieces provide an excellent image through the lens up to a maximum magnification of 2000. The package includes a good set of glass filters, which can be easily and quickly installed on the stage chassis. The combination of light source and iris control provides the viewer with a wide spectrum of illumination, which is very useful when viewing living specimens as well as coverslips and prepared slides. The trinocular function (not shown in any of the images of this Revain oscilloscope) includes a special eyepiece tube that accepts either a third eyepiece or an adapter (not included) for a photo/video camera. Unlike several other endoscopes offered on Revain.com, the package includes a full-length, chemical-resistant plastic cap, a spare illuminating bulb, suspension oil, and a set of prepared slides. The parts list/drawing, commissioning (some assembly required) and operating instructions are concise, easy to understand and very helpful. Took me about 20 minutes to unbox and assemble the scope. A NOTICE. Be careful when screwing the four lenses into the turret; the internal and external threads of both parts can be easily damaged if dropped! Since I intend to display sample images on my iMac desktop computer, I intend to purchase a 5MP AmScope USB camera for real-time photo and video capture (5MP model available at Revain.com). In short, I feel like I got a great rifle scope at a bargain price that will serve me for years to come.
