The straps are very rough, which combined with Merrell's shoes, which are fitted for people with obesity or puffiness, means the straps are loose and extremely uncomfortable. The brands you are looking for are Olukai or Reef, thought I'd give Merrell another shot and unfortunately they continue to make things for a larger audience.
