Review on πŸ’ 18K Gold Tester with KEE + Sample Ring by Shantel Griffin

Fast and mostly accurate

I am happy with my purchase. I have so many boxes of unwanted decorations that need to be sorted out. I wasn't expecting to use the scratch and acid method. The tester quickly tests 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 22, and 24 node products. It also claims to test platinum, but I haven't been able to find anything that compares. The pen attached to the machine has a felt tip, similar to a very thick marker pen. There is some liquid on the felt and it will stay wet until you remove the cap. You place the object in question on the metal part of the machine and touch it with a felt-tip pen. The pointer immediately moves to the corresponding reading. There are sometimes readings that go up and down depending on how you place an item on the scale. In this case I would use the consumables file and saw off a small portion of the item, hold it up to the reader and check again. I think if there are any downsides it's that the cap is difficult to put on and take off and because it doesn't fit the back of the handle it always seems to fall or roll off the table. Also, the platinum indicator area is so close to the needle that it doesn't move at all. I'm pretty sure I'll miss the platinum item if I ever stumble upon it. I wish it had silver on it, but no matter how I set up the car, that's not going to happen. By the way, the machine comes with a small jump ring around a red 18k gold cord. This will calibrate the machine. I bought a separate 18kt wheel to calibrate, but didn't need it. The included adapter ring works great.
