I took a chance with this antenna because the bare 771 is $20 and who wants to put a $20 antenna on top of a $25 Baofeng UV-5R? I thought "a cheap Chinese antenna for a cheap Chinese radio". makes sense right? but when i installed the luiton 771, my baofeng could not pick up any of the channels it has with the stock rubber duck antenna. I really did my best to make it work. I've disconnected and reconnected a few times, with and without the rubber grommet, but couldn't get any signals that all other users seem to have better luck, so maybe the QC is poor quality and I just got a lemon, but i had no success with it
