Review on ๐Ÿ“ท 7artisans 55mm F1.4 II V2.0 Portrait Lens for Fuji X-Mount Cameras: Unleash Photography Brilliance! by Marcus Freeman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not exactly f1.4 in a practical sense. Still good value for money if you know what you are buying!

Unfortunately for me this lens goes back to Revain but it could be a good choice for you depending on what you are looking for! Attached are two photos, the first was taken with a Fujifilm XF 56mm f1.2 at f1.4. The second is 7artisan at f1.4 (hereafter "7a"). Look, I know I'm comparing it to a lens that costs almost ten times as much, but you have to know exactly what you're getting into. with this guy. The first thing you'll notice is the difference in the amount of light captured - shutter speed and ISO were the same on this test, and both lenses were at f/1.4 as we said. In my opinion the 7a loses about 1-1.5 stops compared to Fuji. You'll also notice some pretty sharp vignetting at 7a. It's quite a fun sight to be honest and I imagine it won't bother most people considering this lens, but something to be aware of! The third thing you'll notice is the bokeh profile - it definitely looks more like f1.8-f2 if we compare it to 56. It's just not that blurry. The sharpness is very tolerable (albeit a little "foggy" off center) once you're comfortable with manual focus controls! 7a is also significantly smaller than the 56mm 1.2 but has the same "feel" of very high build quality. To be honest, it really caught my eye - the thing looks like a tank. The focus ring appears to be even smoother than Fuji's. I don't have a Fuji 50mm f2 to compare but this might be a more interesting fight. I have a hunch that Fuji will be wide open at f2 similar to 7a but without the weird vignetting. The point is, even if you can find a used 50f2 for $300, you're still paying nearly three times the price of a 7a! ecosystem and with one of the smaller chassis like the XT20 the 7a is probably a good pickup. Although it is not possible to cross the finish line, the value proposition is very difficult to deny.
