Overall a good entry-level camera, but the lack of an IP address is disappointing.

This is my first security camera so it was a learning experience. When I opened the box, I noticed that the camera felt heavy and expensive. I like it. When I opened the manual I was a little disappointed with the lack of information about charging or the need for a full charge before first use. I chose to fully charge it first just to be on the safe side. While I was charging it, it would beep every time it detected motion (since I haven't connected it to my wifi yet). So I covered it while charging, problem solved. It was pretty easy to connect to my wifi. The charge seems to hold up well (even with my 6 year old watching videos frequently). It was a bit of a hassle to install/position it in front of my door. I recommend getting two people involved in the installation rather than going back and forth between checking the phone and moving the camera. Aside from my own shortcomings, the installation was also fairly easy. I chose shorter screws than the ones that came with the kit because I had them and was trying to have the least impact on my rented home, but I'm sure others would be fine as well. I was a bit frustrated that the picture would be upside down when hung upside down and figured out a way to turn it upside down, only to later realize that the app has the ability to flip the video ( oops! πŸ™ƒπŸ€). Speaking of the app, I don't really like the app you have to use with it, but after you get used to it and read reviews of similar apps, it seems like it could be a lot worse. Rschunimagu. The app sends me a notification but no beep/alert and even after going through ALL the settings I can't find anything to change them. My micro SD card, which I ordered elsewhere, hasn't arrived yet, so I'm only working with still images so far. The image quality is good in day and night mode. What I don't like about stills is that it only takes one shot for each "event" that happens and the frame sync isn't very good. Multiple times, I walked in and out of my door and looked straight into the camera, and when I checked the event on the app, all I saw was a photo of the back of my head. I'm sure everything will be fine once I insert a memory card and record video, but I wouldn't recommend it if you plan on using it for stills only. Also, as I said, it took me many times to come and go, but there were a few times where no new "events" appeared (that's the term the app uses for new frames), but there was a package left on threshold. not sure what it is? Maybe my postman drops my packages, or the camera skips traffic for some reason. The last thing I want to mention (and my biggest complaint) is the IP aspect of this camera. I specially bought an IP camera to find the IP address and check the camera from my computer. The address of this camera is 0.0.0.0, so that's out of the question for me. I am very disappointed in this. I've been trying to figure out how to change it to the actual address, but I'm not very tech savvy and still couldn't. That was a big bummer for me. 😞Other than that and overall as a budget first security camera I'm happy with my purchase but next time I'll probably order another one just for its IP aspect. * This review was honest but intended as compensation.
