The gasket supplied with the water pump should be discarded. The seal falls apart very easily. I would recommend going to the dealer and buying a metal gasket. My 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe stopped flowing coolant through the dripping hole. Nobody but the dealer sells metal gaskets. You'll save yourself a major headache by picking up a metal gasket.
