How I removed it: I inserted a gift card on the side of the original back cover. I then used a slightly thin screwdriver between the gift card and the original back cover (because I wasn't worried about scratching that part) and pry out one side, then machined the other side to do the same. just afterwards. The plastic seems to be of decent quality and it has o-rings and gaskets where they should be. Can't comment on the quality of the filter that came with it, but I see it as a bonus and intend to just buy a real Dyson. Filter. I'm buying this because I've moved to a place where cats used to live and as I'm allergic I thought a hepa post filter would be helpful. I will comment later on whether the original Dyson filters fit properly.
