I've seen several reviews stating that the supplied plastic oil drain tool is not long enough and doesn't insert deep enough to drain the oil from the oil filter housing . I had the same problem (a 2013 Camry in my case) and it annoyed me that I had to force hold this thing to glass it. I got tired and decided to remove the oil filler cap from the top to see if there was a vacuum, hoping it would drain faster as long as I held it. Getting back under the car I was pleasantly surprised to find the drain tool was perfectly in place. So there's nothing wrong with the drain tool, you probably just have an air pocket or some sort of vacuum. Remove the oil filler cap, then release the pressure and it should snap into place.
