Ideal car emergency blanket

I bought this SOL emergency blanket to use in my car in a roadside emergency bag. I used to live in the north and sometimes drove on nice back roads. Because of this, I or together kept a bag in my car that contained things like this blanket, 5-day ration, spare socks, coat, belt, winter hat, gloves, and some water. Although I didn't personally need to use it in an emergency. I think this blanket will be fine. It's stronger than the regular Mylar blanket it replaces. If you're buying this for a small pack, like a lumbar or day pack, just in case you get stuck overnight hiking, just note that it's fairly large but flat. You might want to consider going down a size. I have a suggestion; Don't treat it like a tarp because it isn't and it's not made for it, nor is it ripstop like a tarp. It is thinner and has no attachment points. So if it's pulled tight like a tarp it can rip, or if a stick falls on it from a tree etc it can just rip it in half.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
