I purchased this product after my apartment was broken into and robbed through the sliding patio door. We put a bar in the sliding door guide to prevent it from opening. Having it there makes me feel safer as it's a lot harder to break down the door now. Although we have since installed a monitored alarm system as well, I like to use this product as an extra line of defense for peace of mind. The bar is easy to assemble and adjust to the right length for your door, yet strong enough. If your house has a sliding door, I recommend buying one as soon as you move in - don't risk it! (We thought our apartment was relatively safe as you need a key fob to gain entry into the building, but who knows!) As I was very frightened after the break in, I also used a second door jammer on my bedroom door at night. . Again, my only consolation was the knowledge that this would create further hurdles for a potential attacker.
