Review on Homz 1945066 Replacement Standard Ironing by Keith Stuckey

He comes! Tight but fits.

I've been looking for a new cover for my old Proctor ironing board for a long time. While most cases state they fit 54" x 15" boards, they don't take board thickness into account. Older boards, which are half an inch thicker on top than new boards, do not wrap the lids around, so they can be secured with string or a rubber band. Most covers are made by board companies. (Proctor no longer makes boards.) The lids fit on their thinner top boards. They seem to think that people should throw out the old sturdy boards and buy flimsy new ones. However, during a recent stay at the hotel, I noticed that the ironing board in my room is thicker than a regular board. I measured it and then asked the manager what kind of cases they used. He told me they used Homz. Well it turns out my board is a little thicker but I ordered this case anyway and hoped for the best. It's wearable. The elastic barely wraps around my board, but I have springs with hooks on the end that pull it tight. The fabric seems quite durable. The case comes with a foam pad. How it behaves during washing has yet to be determined. Manufacturers advise against washing covers. Considering that a good cover should last for several years, you will probably want to wash it one day. Grandma's Tip: Keep your old case and use it to cover the new one when the board isn't in use. This helps keep it clean. My advice: if your old pillow is in reasonable condition, keep it in case the new pillow doesn't hold up well through the wash.
