I learned the peeling trick as I bought more. Wash them the first time and let them air dry. After that I saw less pilling. You can continue to do this or wash as usual from the second wash. These socks age very well. ** I bought them for my husband. Of all the socks he had, these were his favorite. He asked me to buy more. They are definitely high quality, thick and well made. In fact, I bought the women's version of it. I washed them upon receipt and they were fluffy and soft with no issues. The only thing I noticed was that two pairs of shoes curled up badly on the sole after the second wash (after the first wear). The shell wasn't one that I could easily remove. I think I read another review that mentioned exfoliation. I will update this review if there are any more washing issues. Overall I was very impressed with the quality and my husband loves the comfort.
