I have seen many people praising this microphone for its quality and price. So when it came time to update my current setup, it seemed like a no-brainer. I connected it to my Olympus WS-852 via the included TRRS adapter and did some test shots indoors and outdoors with the included Wind Suppression Death Cat. The first results were promising, apart from an odd buzz when there was dead air. Thinking it might be my voice recorder, I switched to my Google Pixel 2 and used the default voice recorder app on my phone as well as the Smart Voice Recorder from the Play Store. The results were much better, but there was still an annoying mosquito buzz that permeated any dead air in the shots. A big shout out to Purple Panda and Julie though, especially for their amazing customer service! I emailed them these concerns and they were quick to respond with some suggestions on how to resolve the issue. Unfortunately they didn't work in this case, but that's not their fault! Thankfully, this noise is very easy to remove in a post, so I can't really blame the mic for that. It adds an extra layer of work when it comes to editing, so I had to deduct a star for that. The second star was removed due to microphone sensitivity. I've tried different angles and different distances to get rid of the breath sounds while walking and for the life of me I can't get rid of them. That being said, my old pita mic was almost impossible to use because it was so omnidirectional and quiet. He may not have been breathing, but at the same time you had to speak louder than I was comfortable to get clear recordings. In general, I'd say take a chance and take this mic for flatbread. This is definitely the top 3 if not the best price for your semi-professional videographer.
