update, I got a replacement and this one also had a very strong chemical smell. This time I only let the corset air out during the day as I had to wear the corset during a day of hiking. This orthosis also did not fit and kept slipping down and the belt loops were still slipping. Worst of all was a rash on my leg at the end of the day. I suspect any material they use with such a strong chemical smell will cause a skin reaction. I am returning this product. When I took the orthosis out of the packaging for the first time, it smelled very strongly of chemicals/rubber. The material seems good but the smell was very strong. I had to leave it unpackaged for 3 days to get rid of the smell. It never completely went away, but it wasn't as strong anymore. After putting on the orthosis I felt good and comfortable and had good support. However, the loops that the straps go through often slip out of the frame during the day, so I had to keep adjusting the straps. Unfortunately, on the third day, the seams holding the metal bars broke and the bar popped out at the top and started poking into my leg. I also noticed that the velcro seams were also starting to sag. Maybe it's just a bad batch, I'll swap it out for a new one. If it gets better I will update the rating.
