We only received ours yesterday so let me get to this: you need to be smarter than a baked potato and really remove it from all layers of packaging. Ours started fluffing up pretty quickly when we did. We have chosen to put him in our current double bed in our guest bedroom so he can relax and fluff up for the night. This will almost completely smooth out the rolling crease and will be about 4 inches after about 12 hours. We're going to loosen it up further and puff it up a bit before anyone or anything puts it on top of it. Patience is the key in these things. My husband pouted that he couldn't nest on it right away. lol It's wider than I expected and the same size as our double mattress. Since a lot of people complain about these things being tight, that's why we went with this one. It's not tight. As I said above, it's the same width and height as our current double mattress. The only smell we noticed was from the plastic and once we got rid of it we didn't have any lingering smells. New mattresses always have a strange smell for several hours after you remove the plastic from them. The brand doesn't matter. Ours are gone pretty quickly. If odor is such a big issue, maybe remove the cover and wash it? What this review does NOT cover: Comfort - we haven't tested it yet. Zipper quality - haven't taken the cover off to wash yet. All in all we are very happy with our purchase and give it 5 stars. If it's as convenient as it looks we may get another one and use it for camping. UPDATE: My husband loves it and says it can be crushed but not too much and it's pretty comfortable.
