Decent detergent
I use them to remove dried residue from dishes before I put them in the dishwasher or wash them with another sponge dampened with soap. For my purpose, I cut them in half with scissors, which is easy to get the perfect size for my hand. I find this to be the best way to get good clean dishes as the material is rough enough to scrape dirt out before cleaning. Of course, it is good for other household needs.
