Review on πŸ“· Panasonic Lumix SZ7 14.1MP Digital Camera: High Sensitivity MOS, 10x Optical Zoom (Black) - Enhanced Photography Experience by Stuart Sugden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Leica lens, MOS sensor and affordable price - what does not like?

This is my 6th Panasonic Lumix, I like to upgrade from time to time and when I saw that Panasonic had released an affordable camera with MOS sensor I had to have it. Okay, so it doesn't have full manual control like other Lumix cameras I've had, but I've rarely used manual settings other than aperture priority to get a blurred background. Intelligent Auto (iA) is usually used when I exit the setting anyway. Features of this camera that I like: -- WOW! The fastest camera I've ever had, not only when it's on, but also a SUPER quick shutter response and quick reload to get that next shot. -- Leica lens, one of the best lens manufacturers. -- You can perform optical zoom while recording. video.-- The size isn't TOO small, but it's not too big either - TO THE POINT! It's a small camera but not what I consider ultra compact where there is NO room to grip, these tiny ultra compact cameras are too easy to drop! This SZ7 is the perfect size.-- Metal body - although it feels like plastic, I read on another site that it's aluminum, good build quality.-- Fantastic photos, HD video in stereo!-- Pretty decent in dim light. -- Miniature Effect: I often use this to blur the background. -- The panorama function is the best I've ever used. Features I don't like but can live with: -- Black is just a color choice here, I'm sick of black cameras -- It would be nice if there was a mode dial at the top instead of a menu -- at least there's a dedicated one Video button on top.-- No separate charger, this is the first Panasonic camera I've had that charges the battery in the camera, this should be a cost-cutting move for Panasonic. I recommend buying a class 10 SDHC card if you use your camera for video, the quality is better and they only cost a few dollars more than a class 4 or class 6 card. My recommended class 10 card is a Transcend SDHC class 10 flash card with a capacity of 16 GB. TS16GSDHC10E My Recommended Semi-Rigid Camera Case: Lowepro Volta 20 Camera Case (Black) I've used this case for many of my cameras, it doesn't have a lot of padding but the semi-rigid look makes up for the less padding.
