These two-component butter dishes are very appropriate and beautiful on the dining table. However, I thought they were for small sticks of butter. These dishes are designed for an entire 1-pound packet of butter. Due to the height of this large oil tray, I had to remove the beautiful top of the lid to fit the oil compartment on the fridge door. So I keep one butter dish without a decorative topper in the fridge for all my cooking needs, and the other with the pretty topper I use when company comes over for dinner. It's also nice that you can now buy 1 pound butter sticks at the grocery store!
