The instructions that come with the kit are rubbish and badly cut corners. If you are doing the installation yourself, do yourself a favor and remove the CV axle from the knuckle (but not the diff). You save yourself a lot of headaches trying to remove the rack and you don't have to remove the bolts from the rack when you put it back in place. I completely destroyed my CV axle when trying to lower the lower arm just enough to loosen the driver's side brace. It took me and 2 300 lb men with a pry bar to lower the arm far enough to pull the brace out and it popped out the stamped CV axles on the outside pivot. I don't know because I had an FX4 with a tow package and high performance CVs, but the setup was completely different than what the manual says.
