This is one of the best skin conditioners I've ever used and I've tried many (Lexol, Collonil, Proofide). Apple skin is the most delicate and the easiest to apply. It has a light gel texture and absorbs quickly. I'm very picky about my everyday handbag and when it starts to look like dry "elephant skin" I apply some apple leather (with a microfiber cloth). It fills in scratches and restores the surface to its original shine. I believe it has extended the life of my bags by preventing signs of aging. I've received many compliments on how soft my leather case feels, and I think Apple Leather is one reason for that. It has a bit of a vinegary odor which isn't very good but goes away after it soaks. I typically allow freshly treated surfaces to dry a full 24 hours or at least overnight before use. It doesn't change the appearance of the leather at all. So if you're looking for something to darken or add a patina to, I'd try a wax or oil based conditioner instead. I also use it for purses, shoes and sports equipment.
