Review on πŸ’§ Efficient Water Removal: Wayne 57729-WYN1 EEAUP250 1/4 HP Automatic ON/OFF Electric Pump, Black by Anthony Epps

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It makes what appears to be a huge sucking sound for about 5 seconds.

I bought this as a backup for my little 1/6hp giant. It arrived today when it was supposed to rain so I decided to give it a try. I unplugged the Little Giant and installed a 1/4 HP Wayne pump. Wow what a difference! Wayne's movements give more water. The only thing is when the water gets low and just before it shuts off it makes what looks like a giant suckle for about 5 seconds, sort of like a baby drinking through a straw and hitting the bottom of the glass but much more pronounced. But that doesn't bother me, because when I hear this noise, I know that the pump is doing its job. The Little Giant will now be the backup pump. And as a side note, the Wayne cost about $30 less than the little giant. I would give Wayne 5 stars but can't comment on durability. I had 3 little giant pumps and they lasted about 18-24 months before they ran out. Hope Wayne holds out longer. UPDATE 11/28/17, changed to 2 stars. Well I had high hopes for the pump but apparently a weak switch. Another reviewer mentioned that his pump kept going on/off, on/off, on/off, etc. After a few months of use, my pump did the same. I turned the pump upside down and used a small medium bristle nylon brush to clean the areas of the switch that could be reached and that seemed to help. But due to a poorly designed and/or malfunctioning switch, I can't trust the pump and think it might burn out if the switch doesn't turn the pump off properly. So, back to Revain, I bought an excellent vertical float switch to turn the Wayne pump on and off as water enters and exits. Model switch no. 92010 in case anyone is interested. Let's hope the Superior rebrand helps! So. For now, great pump, buy it!
