Review on πŸ”€ High-Quality Coaxial A/B Switch (1) for Superior Audio & Video Control by Scott Rodriguez

Inexpensive; Expect some signal degradation; and it looks cheap

Probably to be expected, but with this switch you lose some of the signal. Of course, whether or not you are on the threshold of perceptible bit errors depends on the strength of the original signal. We use this switch to toggle between the main cable (480i set top box output) and the cable signal right at the wall (which usually provides national ClearQAM channels if you have Comcast service). Depending on your region and service provider, this effectively allows you to deliver national channels (CBS, FOX, some PBS channels, NBC, and a few others) in high definition without having to pay for HDTV service, since service providers often broadcast it unencrypted. We have a higher quality splitter that splits the incoming signal between the cable box and this switch, effectively allowing us to "bypass" the low res cable box. In all likelihood, a 3dB (or more) loss from the cable signal being split to the box and this switch is a more serious problem than the loss of this switch itself. However, I have found that some channels exhibit picture artifacts when this switch is used, compared to straight to the TV (and still using the splitter). It's not clear if this is due to an impedance mismatch, losses in that switch, or simply because we're already on the cusp of a usable signal. However, you'll find that this switch feels pretty cheap in your hand.
