Review on πŸ“š VASAGLE Industrial Ladder Shelf: 4-Tier Bookshelf for Stylish Storage in Living Room, Kitchen, or Office by Laura Mason

good enough; could be better

The backbone of the product is actually very good. The "ladder" rails and support seats are strong enough to support significant weight, and the included shelves are very hard wood (no pun intended). ) the ball falls to the length of the shelf. At 2 feet they are just too narrow. Unfortunately, if you're looking for the sloping ladder shelf aesthetic but also need some serious shelf length, you'll have to shell out $300 to $500 to get one from a boutique like Crate&Barrel$$$ and Article$$$. I certainly did not find long shelves in this price range. BUT luckily, as I mentioned before, this particular ladder shelf's bones are good enough to allow me to upgrade it! A few measurements and a few cuts of $40 hardwood and a local hardware store is all it takes, and I envisioned a $140 ladder rack that would put $300-$500 rip-offs to shame! Pictured here is the same product but with my custom 4 foot long shelves. The only downer is that the rungs can cut into the wall at the top due to the sharp edges. So I would invest in plastic wall guards (like those used on doorknobs) to avoid this.
