Review on Corair Carbide 678C: Low Noise Tempered Glass ATX Case in Stylish White by Will Bremer

Well made, lots of space. Not really designed for water cooling

Got it while building a client water circuit for a gaming PC I was building. I love the space inside and the glass side is a real plus and shows my work pretty well. The placement of the USB 3 and power/reset buttons is perfect. Some pretty big problems. First, they provide you with drive bay blanks if you want to close unused ports. However, if you need to make the entire front of the case a cooler, pump, and reservoir, you can remove 6 bays, but you only get 2 covers. The covers on their website are $4 each and have been out of stock for OVER a month. Without additional covers you have holes on the back of the case for the wires to run through. It's just not a clean look. At least provide a 3D printable file so we can create our own. As for the pumps and reservoir, there's plenty of room up front when the compartments are removed. But there are NO mounting holes that can be used to install them. Even the slots above the bottom cable aren't positioned properly to accommodate Corsair's own pump. I ended up having to modify the slots with a file so I could attach the thumbscrews. Pretty unexpected considering they make both the pump and the housing. The front "door" of the case is solid and sits flush against the sides and top of the case. There is a small air gap at the bottom, but after testing I noticed a significant improvement in cooling with the door open. Even with the door closed, you can't flaunt your cool RGB fans. At least there could be an option with a glass front or grille to allow for more airflow. You can take the door off, but that will leave those ugly hinges open. While I'm happy with the results, I've learned to spend a little more time exploring hull options. If you don't use water cooling and have at least 4 hard drives, this might be for you.

Pros
  • External components
Cons
  • Pretty good
