To be honest I was skeptical about buying this set as I've noticed that rack sets under €300 are usually crap! I bought another cheap brand from Revain for the same price and it was rubbish. Weak. Easy to bend. Not so with this set. This set may not be of the highest quality (real racks cost over $130 each and without rope), but it's really good value for money. Really good! In case you're wondering, yes, the center shaft isn't solid brass or a steal. The core is somewhat consecrated. Only on the outside does it look like chrome, it's not massive. However, it's really good value for money and a great starter pack. If you need racks for everyday use in crowded areas, get real ones, otherwise get these. Even the part where the rope is attached is strong while other cheap racks bend easily. Oh, and the red rope is strong! It's a good weight and full, it's not as cheap as the other set I bought. Oh, and yes, the chrome base is just a cover, it's not a solid chrome base. The base is black. And it has a rubber edge at the bottom to protect the floor. If you are on a tight budget I have no hesitation in recommending this set. Although I've only used it once so far. If you're on a bigger budget, I suggest buying actual racks from a company that sells them. You won't find real things here. Note. The main box with the meal set is in the larger box, making it difficult to climb the stairs. Just open the packaging box and take out the smaller product box. You will find it easier to carry. To make your decision easier, I have attached many photos. I know how annoying it is when people don't post pictures or enough details because then you're left to gamble.
