25 feet is the actual maximum range with no obstructions between headset and receiver. When I go around the corner the signal falls off much closer. This headset has maximum, medium and short range settings. I tried Short Range just for fun: it's 7ft. Poly tech support couldn't figure out or understand why the range is so ridiculous. The technician wanted to consult with the engineers, but hasn't answered me yet. I have previously purchased another Plantronics headset, the W440, which is identical to this Savi 8240 except for the receiver. He had the same ridiculous range. Tech support didn't have a solution for the W440. I thought the newer 8240 might be better, but it's just as useless. Techs have tried to blame my environment for a range issue that could be interference from my other devices. However, I have another headset from a different brand that doesn't have this range issue. I can go to every corner of my big house and still keep in touch. The problem is clearly with Poly/Plantronics products.
