A few weeks ago I bought another splitter from Revain (like every other online electronics retailer I've looked for). The other splitter is sold under different brand names, but it's exactly the same device, so be careful. Anyway, I was confused. With a brand new TV and only one optical audio jack (seriously, TV designers?), I kept switching connections between the soundbar and headphones. It was annoying, not to mention I was afraid I would damage the connections over time. So, in a last ditch attempt at a solution and a lot of website hopping, I found this. I really didn't want another electrical element to be connected. Actually, I lack the space, so I had to buy a bigger surge protector. And also an optical cable that goes from the device to the television, because, God forbid, they even deliver 3'. (These extras are what companies make money from, don't you know?) Everything. It's worth it because now I can use the soundbar and headphones at the same time if I want to and I don't have to fiddle with the TV connections. The sound is excellent. No signal or quality loss. Connections are easy, just make sure you have another optical cable and a place to plug in your power adapter.
