After reading all the reviews, I decided to purchase this set of stools. I am overall very happy with my purchase. These stools were not difficult to assemble, but I did use better glue than the glue supplied. I had and issue with one chair that was damaged, but I contacted the manufacturer and it was immediately replaced. The replacement stool is fine. I would have given these stools 5 stars, but I do not like the antique black finish. They actually tried to make the edges look "worn off" but it looks like a bright red line. A lighter shade of brown would have been nice, but it is really, really red. I drew over all the edges with a black permanent ink marker and they look much richer. I hope the manufacturer reads these reviews and makes improvements because these are really great stools for the price. They are perfect for my 36" high island and do not take up too much space. They tuck neatly underneath the overhang. I would also recommend the felt pads for the bottoms that other reviewers mentioned. Without the pads, they were leaving black marks on my tile floor.
