Review on John Frieda Radiant Red Colour Protecting DUO Set: Shampoo + Conditioner, 8.3 fl.oz - Ultimate Hair Care for Vibrant Red Shades by Adara Delgado

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality or results for the price

First, it's NOT a color shampoo, so it won't redden your hair or stain your bathroom. Since there aren't many red-based shampoos in Japan (and these are outrageously expensive with bad reviews), the reviews were good and I thought it would help keep my dyed red hair. There are several reasons I only rated it this way: 1) I didn't feel it made a significant difference to my color retention. I've posted a progressive photo along with this review to show how quickly the red washed out. I understand that red is the hardest to keep which is why I bought this shampoo in the first place, but it washes out at the same speed as regular shampoo. People lucky enough to have natural red hair may experience different results. 2) Despite being "salon quality", it contains no sulfates or silicone, which is actually very counterproductive when it comes to color retention. This shampoo really should be a lot cheaper as it uses sulfate based detergents which are the cheapest you can get. Essentially, you are paying for the brand. You should really be ashamed. I wasn't aware of this fact when I bought it, otherwise I would have looked for a better product. 3) Although the smell in the shower was good, after drying the hair, it started smelling more and more like ammonia, similar to how your hair smells right after dyeing, which I don't want to smell. It could be because my body chemistry doesn't respond well to perfume, I'm not sure. again. I stopped using it after about a month because it made no difference and the smell really bothered me.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
