Review on 🚴 MTX Rear Bike Basket: Optimize Your Search! by Jarom Bulles

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not for heavy loads

This is a lightweight basket that freely fits on the Topeak MTX rear tray. While the rear shelf is rated at 50 pounds, I'd bet this basket shouldn't hold more than 20. It's very fluffy and the weight of the contents comes from a small plastic square that doesn't even take up the entire length. Basket. Sliding the basket into the MTX rails is also a bit annoying. These are very small rails and you have to be very precise. It's easy when the basket is empty and the place is light, but very difficult when the basket is heavy and dark. The grip is by far the worst. In fact, it's a thin metal wire. It is only held on by hooks on either side. It started flexing when I only had 15 pounds in my basket. After flexing, the hooks fall out and it falls to the road when I hit a bump. I had to bend it to get its shape back and try not to use it too much. And then it bounces and jingles as you drive over bumpy surfaces. It's not a terrible basket. A better grip and a simpler rail system would be great.
