I bought this helmet for hobby welding, I'm not a professional. I first used it the other day when I was welding some holes in a friend's exhaust system. I took it out of the box and left it under the light for about an hour to make sure the batteries were charged, then used it. It worked great. There are adjustments inside the helmet to adjust sensitivity and delay, as well as adjustments on the side to adjust overall darkness. The instructions will give you the basics of how to adjust the headgear so it fits and adjusts well. Adjusting the side of the helmet to keep it in place. The joystick on the side even has a grind setting so you don't have to remove your helmet and goggles or face shield, which is great for grinding between welds when I was at submerged arc welding. All in all a great helmet in this price range.
