My husband is a welder. I bought this helmet because he wanted a new one. When he uses the shield, instead of staying dark, the auto-darkening flashes at him, damaging his eyes. Which is not good because it can catch fire. He checked the batteries, they're fine. He can't use the helmet because the room's blackout doesn't work, so he uses his old helmet again.

Almost painful to wear. It's like having 2 screws drilled into your temples. Outside will not work. Works as expected indoors, but outdoor welding is useless with this helmet. We were building a fence over the weekend and some parts had to be welded outdoors. Once this helmet goes outside, the auto dimming stops working. There is no way to manually darken the shadow. so 100% indoors only. One would think that a helmet with "Solar" in its name would be able to work outdoors where there is plenty
