day 1 review 01/17/19 Well 5 days have passed since the diagnosis of acute laminitis and finally I received the boots even though I paid for expedited shipping. Even if you count the weekends there, it's slow. You really should wear these boots on Prime because nobody WANTS to buy this product. You MUST buy this product and you need it NOW! Either way. So I get boots. They are well packaged in beautiful packaging. They come with an instruction manual. Even without a brochure, they are easy to understand. I watched a video of the boots on their website before I bought them and they showed me how to put them on. Then I put them on. After I put on the first boot, my horse shifted his weight onto the boot and began licking his lips. Then he lifted his hind hoof! Note that this horse has acute laminitis! At this point he had been trying to shift all his weight onto his hind legs for several days, so seeing him lift his hind leg gave me instant gratification! I put on another boot and evaluated the fit. They fit well on his hooves - little room to manoeuvre. I didn't choose the size - I used the dimensional grid as a guide. However, they make a gap at the top. Maybe it's because they're new, or maybe it's just the durable material they're made of. I was afraid that shavings would get in, so I stuffed them with paper towels to fill in the gaps. I think that should help. Maybe I'll make little bell-shaped things out of the fabric and slip them over the EasyBoot to keep the chips out. I'll see how the paper towels hold up. So far, so good. He was a little hesitant to climb into her, but either way he shouldn't walk too much. I'm not sure I'm going to put it in, but right now it's too lame. I have owned horses for decades and still have the original EasyBoot with wires and metal buckle. Things have certainly come a long way! The velcro on them was very easy to use and seemed pretty secure. I don't think he can take those boots off. I am happy with my purchase. I wanted to buy another brand but they couldn't be here in the next two days. I also think I would be happy with this brand. My horse just needed some relief and he found it in these boots. I definitely see these boots as an all-rounder for treating abscesses and other hoof problems. The integrated hoof vents are a huge improvement over my other treatment boots, which are all rubber/plastic. The only downside is that you have to buy a pair and they are expensive. But they seem durable so hopefully they will last a while. I've already bought replacement inserts because I'm not sure how long they will last. I will provide updates. Stay tuned and wish the poor Snickers all the best!
