The loading design is terrible!
Aside from the fact that mine didn't work out of the box, the design itself is pretty bad. The whole point of a magnetic charging pen is that you can be less precise when placing an object on the charger. This design has two tiny pins sticking out of the device that need to be inserted into two tiny holes in the adapter that you plug into the controllers. This completely defeats the purpose of a "magnetic" system, and it's not even magnetic! It was much easier to connect with the original connector.
