You have to run it.

I use this on a 36 volt electric garden tractor to power two 18 watt LED lights. When it's on the light works fine but the problem is that I switch the power supply to 36 volts so the unit only turns on when I need lighting and initially the LEDs don't seem to draw enough current to turn on the converter . . If I put an ordinary light bulb in the circuit for a short time to give it a heavy load, it will start up and run normally. I put a capacitor on the 12 volt side and this causes the lights to come on immediately, but if I turn them off then back on they don't light up until I turn them off and wait for the minuet for the capacitor to discharge Has . Then it works perfectly again. I'll probably solve this one day, but right now it's frustrating that it just won't turn on no matter the load. If so, I would give 5 stars.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
