This scanner looks like a solid piece of hardware. It has full roll units at the top and bottom to separate pages. We've had it for about a week and have gone through about 600 pages with it already. Every page loads perfectly every time. As others have pointed out, the included software sucks. Suffice it to say that it comes with software for scanning documents. Nothing more. Throw it away and buy something more standard. That is the real strength of this unit. The hardware matches the price, and full TWAIN and ISIS support means you can choose the software that suits your needs. I have a feeling that you are basically just paying for the hardware given the quality of the device and the selling price. Take advantage of the cost difference between this and competing devices and buy the software you want. My only real complaint is how Epson supports network scanning. I'm not sure why it should cost so much. The bad thing is that this is optional for an additional fee, but costing more than the device itself is ridiculous. I have a more expensive Epson all-in-one from a few years ago that didn't cost much more than the DS-510 and has network scanning. Why does it have to cost $350 to add network scanning to this device!?!?! Message for Epson - Familiarize yourself with network scanning and you will have a really good product.
